Have you ever dreamed of owning a business?
It’s an idea with a lot of potential that many possess, but they may not be sure how to follow through with it. ‘Getting down to business’, as the saying goes, is multifaceted, and creating a successful one could be a complicated process.
But did you know that nearly 1 in 10 small businesses in the U.S. are veteran-owned?
The U.S. Small Business Administration, or SBA, lets us know that for veterans or military spouses, starting a business can be a rewarding and beneficial career, as well as a great option for transition. As part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program (or TAP), its entrepreneurship track, named Boots to Business, was created to teach the skills necessary to build a successful business.
For both veterans and military spouses, this program is free! It’s available to take any time prior to transition, as said by SBA.gov, and spans over two days in person.
There is also an optional, online follow-up course, “B2B: Revenue Readiness”, offered through a partnership with Mississippi State University. “Receive sign-up information once you complete the in-person introductory course”, the site explains. “B2B and B2BR participants are also encouraged to take advantage of the many resources offered by the SBA and its partner network.”
Terra Smith, military spouse and owner of DocTerra Mobile Veterinary Services, enrolled in the program and was able to bring abundant success to her business, and visits pet owners to give convenient, comfortable care. Watch here for more about her amazing success story!
If you would love to create a business that fulfills you, we encourage you to take Boots to Business. Find out more on their website: https://www.sba.gov/sba-learning-platform/boots-business
